Role Description This full-time, on-site Senior Interior Designer role is based in San Mateo, CA. The Senior Interior Designer will lead interior design projects from concept through construction, including programming, space planning, concept development, and detailing. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing design presentations, selecting and specifying finishes and FF&E, coordinating with architects and consultants, and producing interior-related drawings and documentation. The role involves preparing and reviewing construction drawings, collaborating closely with contractors during bidding and construction, and ensuring design intent is carried through to project completion. The Senior Interior Designer will also mentor junior team members, participate in client meetings, manage project timelines and budgets, and support business development efforts as needed.
Qualifications
Strong Interior Design skills, including concept development, material and finish selection, and detailing for high-end residential projects.Proficiency in Space Planning, with the ability to translate client needs into functional, aesthetically cohesive layouts.Experience in Architecture-related coordination, including integration of interiors with building systems and structural elements.Demonstrated ability to produce and review Construction Drawings, including interior elevations, millwork details, and specifications.Expertise in FF&E selection and specification, including furnishings, lighting, fixtures, and custom pieces suitable for luxury residential environments.Proficiency with design and documentation software (e.g., AutoCAD or Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office).Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a closely related field; relevant certifications or licensure are a plus.7+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably with a focus on high-end residential projects.Strong client-facing, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to lead meetings and manage expectations.Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a collaborative studio environment.
