About this role

Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Cabinet Spray Finisher / Stainer / Painter to join our manufacturing team. This role is vital in delivering high-quality finished cabinetry, ensuring a professional and durable finish that meets our company's standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with various tools, and experience in spray finishing and staining processes. This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on craftsmanship and precision. Responsibilities Prepare cabinet components and millwork for finishing through sanding, filling, cleaning, masking, and surface inspection.Apply stains, primers, paints, sealers, lacquers, conversion varnishes, polyurethanes, and specialty coatings using professional spray equipment.Develop and match custom stain colors and finish samples to meet client and designer specifications.Ensure consistent finish quality across all project components, including color, sheen, texture, and coverage.Perform final inspections and quality control checks before products move to assembly or installation.Troubleshoot finishing issues such as orange peel, fisheyes, blushing, color variation, and adhesion concerns.Maintain and calibrate spray equipment, pumps, pressure pots, spray booths, and related finishing tools.Monitor material usage and assist with inventory management of stains, paints, and finishing supplies.Train and mentor junior finishers and shop personnel on proper finishing techniques and quality standards.Collaborate with project managers, production staff, and installers to ensure project requirements and deadlines are achieved.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe finishing department.Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to finishing materials and equipment.Ability to help in other departments as required.Requirements Minimum 7–10 years of experience in cabinet finishing, architectural millwork finishing, or high-end wood finishing.Extensive experience spraying custom cabinetry and millwork in a professional shop environment.May require to travel to job sites and do the finishing on site for touchups and service.Strong knowledge of wood species, finishing systems, and coating technologies.Advanced color matching and stain formulation skills.Proficiency with HVLP, air-assisted airless, and conventional spray systems.Experience working with conversion varnishes, pre-catalyzed and post-catalyzed finishes, polyurethane coatings, waterborne finishes, and specialty products.Ability to read shop drawings, finish schedules, and production documents.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet production schedules.Preferred Qualifications Experience in luxury residential cabinetry and custom architectural millwork.Leadership or supervisory experience in a finishing department.Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and production workflow optimization.WHMIS certification and knowledge of workplace safety standards.Physical Requirements Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the workday.Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs.Ability to safely wear and utilize required personal protective equipment, including respirators.Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour Experience: wood finishing/staining/painting: 7 years (required)Language: English (required)Work Location: In person
