About this role
The Revit Specialist at Five South Architecture plays a critical role in the integration of technology, design coordination, and constructability review across projects. This role focuses on leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) to enhance project accuracy, streamline coordination with consultants and contractors, and improve design visualization. Working closely with the architectural and construction teams, this role ensures digital models and documentation are technically sound, constructible, and aligned with project goals.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Modeling & Coordination
Develop and manage detailed BIM models in Revit for architectural design, coordination, and construction documentation.Integrate consultant models (structural, MEP, civil) into a federated model and resolve spatial conflicts.Lead and facilitate clash detection, model reviews, and constructability coordination with internal teams and external partners.
Technical Support & Visualization
Produce high-quality visual outputs, including 3D views, renderings, diagrams, and walkthroughs to support design development and client communication.Generate coordinated drawing sets and construction documents derived from intelligent BIM data.Support design teams with modeling best practices, families, parametric elements, and detailing.
Standards, Workflows & Quality
Maintain and improve firm BIM/VDC standards, templates, libraries, and documentation protocols.Assist in the development of standard operating procedures related to model creation, project setup, and file management.Conduct model audits and reviews to ensure technical accuracy, file performance, and adherence to firm protocols.
Collaboration & Integration
Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to support integrated project delivery.Coordinate with the construction team and clients on digital construction techniques and BIM-enabled workflows.Participate in design coordination meetings and contribute technical expertise on constructability and sequencing.
Technology & Innovation
Stay up to date with emerging BIM/VDC technologies, tools, and workflows relevant to industrial and commercial projects.Evaluate and implement new software or add-ins that can enhance design efficiency and project delivery.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Architectural Technology, Engineering Technology, or Construction technology related field plus 2 + years of experience in professional design environment.Bachelor’s Degree in related field is preferred.4 years’ experience in an Architecture firm may be substituted for a degree.Eager to support staff with a positive attitude, passion, and patience.REVIT experience is required. Experience with other applications is highly desired, such as AutoCAD, rendering/animation software, Enscape, cost estimation software, etc.Working knowledge of design industry workflows, production cycle, and priorities.Working knowledge of general building constructionStrong level of Communication Skills and Self InitiativeSuccessful evaluation of current BIM and Revit skills will be a condition of employment.
