Retail Design Architect

About the Role Our client, a renowned architectural firm with a strong emphasis on innovative retail environments, is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Retail Design Architect. This role focuses on designing engaging and functional spaces for leading retail brands, encompassing everything from flagship stores to pop-up concepts. You will be involved in all stages of the design process, from initial client briefs and conceptual development to detailed design, material selection, and construction oversight. The ideal candidate possesses a keen understanding of retail branding, customer experience, and the latest design trends in the retail sector. This position requires a collaborative spirit and the ability to translate brand identity into compelling physical spaces. You will work closely with clients, marketing teams, and construction professionals to bring retail visions to life. This role requires your presence in our client's office located in Provo, Utah, US , ensuring seamless collaboration and project execution. Key Responsibilities Design innovative and brand-aligned retail spaces, including store layouts, interior design, and façade treatments. Develop conceptual designs, schematic designs, and detailed construction documents using architectural software. Collaborate with clients to understand their brand objectives, target demographics, and operational requirements. Select and specify materials, finishes, furniture, and fixtures appropriate for retail environments. Coordinate architectural designs with engineers (structural, MEP) and other consultants. Prepare presentations, 3D models, and renderings to effectively communicate design concepts. Oversee the construction administration phase, ensuring design intent and quality standards are met. Stay current with retail design trends, customer experience strategies, and innovative materials. Ensure compliance with building codes, accessibility standards, and landlord requirements. Work closely with marketing and branding teams to ensure cohesive brand representation in the physical space. Requirements Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture. 3-5 years of experience in architectural design, with a significant focus on retail or commercial interior design. Proficiency in architectural design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp). Strong understanding of retail branding, customer psychology, and merchandising principles. Excellent visual communication and presentation skills. Experience with material research and specification for retail applications. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong client-facing and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of lighting design principles for retail is a plus. Licensed Architect (RA) is preferred.
