About this role
We are seeking a talented and experienced designer who is excited to align with our aesthetic as they develop residential remodeling projects for clients. A true designer - not decorator! - who can do everything from draft intuitive floorplans to nail selections that the homeonwer will love. Scovell prides itself in designing thoughtful high-end cabinetry and millwork so a background working in older, traditional homes is critical. This position is a blend of artistic talent and technical precision.
Key Objectives:
Marry a personalized and familiar client-contractor experience with an organized and process-based approach to making selections and executing the designThoughtfully make selections with consideration to budget and styleCommunicate across all departments and with clients in an effective, yet friendly manner
Key Accountabilities:
Floorplan & Elevation Conceptualization
Prepare schematicsCollaborate on floorplan revision ideas and feedbackBased on clients’ taste, propose elevations
Design Scope
Develop Design boardsCoordinate with Draftsman on elevations and renderingsWork with the Design Account Manager + Estimator to determine what should be included in the Preliminary ScopeDirect the development of the cabinet planAttend Trade Walk to answer questions regarding the overall design scope
Selections + Selection Pricing
Procures samples and attends showroom meetingsPropose selections to the client, incorporating specs and pricing into the bidParticipate in Design Critiques to review in progress work
Assisting with Drafting
Collaborate with the draftsman to ensure drawing accuracy + design intentAssist with drafting tasks in Chief Architect to support the design + documentation process:Revising floorplans + internal elevations based on design changes or client feedbackUpdating finishes (wallpaper, light fixture color, tile, etc.)Electrical plansEditing room labels, adding/removing dimensions, adding callouts + notes
Design Execution in Construction
Attend milestone meetings during construction to ensure the design is being properly executedAssist in the electrical walkthrough to verify placement of fixtures, electrical devices and switchesPrepare tile dry lays prior to installationSample paint colors in the final phase of constructionQuality check active projects
Requirements
Must be proficient in Chief Architect, Revit or similar4+ years of experience in remodeling or new construction residential projectsDegree in design, or related field
Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
