About this role

General Manager Luxury Furniture & Interior Design Showroom Mercato Interiors | Las Vegas, Nevada | Full-Time, On-Site About Mercato Interiors Mercato Interiors is a locally owned luxury furniture showroom and interior design studio serving clients throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Across nearly 50,000 square feet of showroom space, we offer a highly curated collection of modern and contemporary furnishings from leading American and European manufacturers. Our clients may visit us to purchase a single piece, customize furnishings for their home, or partner with our design team on a complete residence. In every case, our goal is the same: to provide knowledgeable guidance, exceptional service, and a highly personal showroom experience. We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our team, oversee showroom operations, and help Mercato continue to grow while preserving the relationships, standards, and culture that distinguish our business. The Opportunity The General Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the showroom, including sales leadership, team development, client experience, operational consistency, and coordination among our design, administrative, purchasing, delivery, and service functions. This is a hands-on leadership position. The right person will be visible on the showroom floor, accessible to the team, comfortable working directly with clients, and capable of moving confidently between strategic priorities and daily operational needs. This position does not require the General Manager to be an interior designer. However, the successful candidate should appreciate good design, understand the expectations of a luxury clientele, and be comfortable supporting a consultative sales and design process. Key Responsibilities Lead, support, and develop a team of design consultants, design assistants, and showroom personnel. Establish clear expectations for sales performance, client follow-up, accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. Coach team members through regular meetings, one-on-one conversations, and active participation on the showroom floor. Oversee daily operations across Mercato’s two showroom buildings, including staffing, scheduling, floor coverage, opening and closing procedures, and presentation standards. Monitor sales activity, active opportunities, client follow-up, order progress, and other key performance indicators. Help the team convert showroom traffic and inquiries into lasting client relationships and successful projects. Ensure that every client receives a welcoming, knowledgeable, and highly responsive experience. Assist with sensitive client concerns, service issues, order complications, and other situations requiring thoughtful resolution. Coordinate with purchasing, receiving, delivery, installation, accounting, marketing, and administrative team members to keep projects moving forward. Partner with ownership on staffing, merchandising, inventory planning, marketing initiatives, showroom improvements, and long-term growth. Recruit, onboard, train, and retain talented employees who reflect Mercato’s standards and values. Improve procedures and communication without introducing unnecessary complexity or losing the personal nature of the business. Maintain a professional, respectful, organized, and solutions-oriented work environment. What We Are Looking For Five or more years of management experience in luxury retail, furniture, interior design, home furnishings, hospitality, or another high-touch client-service environment. Demonstrated success leading and developing a sales-oriented team. Strong understanding of consultative selling and relationship-based client service. Ability to hold employees accountable while remaining constructive, fair, and supportive. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Sound judgment and the confidence to address difficult situations directly and professionally. Experience managing schedules, workflows, customer concerns, and multiple operational priorities. Comfort working with sales reports, customer information, order-management systems, and performance metrics. An appreciation for contemporary design, quality furnishings, customization, and the details that matter to a discerning client. Ability to work collaboratively with an engaged owner and leadership team. Availability to work a retail schedule, including weekends and selected showroom events. Particularly Valuable Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas would be especially helpful: Luxury furniture or home furnishings Interior design or residential project coordination Custom-order products High-value or long-cycle sales White-glove delivery and installation Vendor and manufacturer relationships Showroom merchandising Recruiting and training sales professionals Customer relationship management systems Improving processes within a growing, independently owned business The Qualities That Matter Most We are looking for a leader who is: Present.
