Procon Consulting is seeking an Interior Designer / Systems Furniture Project Manager for a government project and long term role. The ideal candidate would need at least 4 years of experience in an Interior Designer / Systems Furniture Project Manager role or similar position. This role requires various skills and experience as listed below. This role is located in Washington D.C.
Qualifications and Skills
• A bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or construction management (civil, mechanical, electrical or architectural, etc.) from an accredited University recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or a minimum of four years in a project management position for interior renovation or new construction projects.
• A minimum of four years’ experience in commercial construction project management (in addition to education or experience requirements above).
• Experience managing complex new construction or major renovation commercial building projects, and experience managing simultaneous construction and/or building projects.
• Ability to work independently and in groups and in a stressful environment.
• Experience interfacing with GSA, A&E firms, building suppliers and construction trades.
• Understanding of construction methodology and scheduling.
• Experience developing Government project cost estimates and tracking funds.
• Ability to develop project schedules in MS Project and/or Primavera P3-P6.
• Ability to direct facility construction activities and run construction progress meetings.
• Ability to electronically review and print AutoCAD documents.
• Experience on commercial projects that included a large percentage of systems furniture.
• Familiarity with NCR DHS locations is preferred, but not required.
• Familiarity with design/construction of secure (SCIF) spaces is preferred, but not required. Ability to pass a DHS “suitability” background investigation is a requirement.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Collaborate with multiple business units to define program goals, project scope, and functional requirements.
• Partner with clients to determine optimal location(s) for each project, presenting multiple viable options when appropriate.
• Leverage expertise in office design, interior fit-outs, and related disciplines (architecture, interior design, engineering) to guide the design process.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules, coordinating with MEP and architectural teams to plan and execute construction activities.
• Provide regular project updates and progress reports to clients, ensuring clear and transparent communication.
• Manage relocation logistics, including moving occupants to temporary spaces during construction and coordinating their return upon project completion.
• Oversee procurement, delivery, and installation of systems furniture, ensuring compliance with design intent, schedule, and quality standards.
• Conduct post-occupancy evaluations to ensure client satisfaction and address any deficiencies or warranty items.
