Interior Designer – Retail & Branded Environments (5–7 Years) | New York, NY Location: New York, NY | Schedule: Full-time, 4 days in office + 1 remote day | Salary: $90,000–$115,000 (based on experience, qualifications and skill set) Love retail design, the fixtures, the millwork, the brand storytelling, the way a great store actually works? I'm recruiting for one of New York's most respected interior architecture practices, whose retail and branded environments portfolio includes household-name brands, to find an Intermediate Designer who can carry concepts from test-fit through fabrication. This role sits right at the intersection of design thinking and technical execution: you'll be client-facing through the design phase, support the design director in leading the team, and own retail fixturing and custom millwork from intent through shop drawings. What you'll be doing: Interfacing with clients throughout the design phase and supporting the design director in overseeing the teamDeveloping retail programs of requirements, test-fits, schematic planning, program analysis and basic code analysisDesigning and coordinating retail fixturing, wall systems, gondolas, vitrines, POS and specialty displaysDeveloping custom millwork design: detailing, specification and fabrication intentSelecting, presenting and specifying furniture, finishes and accessoriesPreparing and presenting design presentations; coordinating with clients, consultants and fabricatorsReviewing engineering documents, shop drawings, fixture drawings and submittals for design-intent compliancePeriodic site visits during construction What you'll bring: Minimum 5 years' continuous experience in branded environments / retail interiors and architectureDemonstrated expertise in retail store planning, including sales-area and BOH layoutsProven retail fixturing and custom millwork design and coordination experienceStrong proficiency in SketchUp, Revit, AutoCAD and Adobe Creative SuitePhoto-realistic rendering ability using Enscape and AI-driven visualisation toolsThe ability to balance strong design thinking with technical execution across all phases Why this firm: Name-brand retail clients, a culture that gives designers real client exposure, the chance to design fixtures and millwork that get fabricated and built at scale, and hybrid flexibility.
