About this role
About Marais Home
Marais Home is a furniture and lifestyle store rooted in a love for well-made things and thoughtful design. Opened in August 2025 in Lexington, KY, we curate a mix of vintage finds, made-to-order furniture, and inspired home goods from brands we admire. Our space is equal parts showroom and studio — a place where customers can shop, explore design ideas, and create homes that feel truly lived in.
We're growing our team and looking for a designer who can help with client projects from concept through install while also jumping in on the retail side of the business.
Role Overview
As an Interior Designer, you'll work directly with clients on residential design projects — developing concepts, producing drawings in Revit, sourcing furniture and finishes, and seeing rooms through to completion. Because our showroom is the heart of what we do, you'll also spend time on the retail floor helping customers, styling the space, and supporting the team. This is a hybrid role for someone who loves design work but also enjoys being around people and product.
Key Responsibilities
Assist on residential interior design projects from initial consultation through installation
Produce floor plans, elevations, and 3D models in Revit
Develop design concepts, mood boards, and specification packages
Source furniture, lighting, textiles, and finishes — pulling from our vendors and beyond
Present design proposals to clients and manage revisions
Coordinate with vendors, trades, and delivery teams through install
Support the retail side of the business: assist customers on the floor, style the showroom, and help with merchandising
Contribute to seasonal displays and the overall look and feel of the store
Qualifications
Degree in Interior Design or related field
Proficiency in Revit required
2+ years of professional interior design experience preferred
Strong eye for residential design, materials, and furniture
Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with clients
Organized, self-directed, and able to juggle multiple projects
Comfortable working in a retail environment and engaging with customers
Schedule
We're primarily looking for a full time schedule but open to a large part time role. Some Saturdays are required to support showroom hours and client appointments (in this case, Monday would be off).
