About this role
Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced interior designer with attention to detail to support our growing new residential construction developments. You will be responsible for creating concepts, project developments, and designs for all phases of a project, design documentation, project planning, material sourcing, the production of “mood” boards, samples boards, and finished... selections and sourcing. Initially it will be part time mostly remote work, with often in person meetings and activities around town.
Position Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge
• Bachelor of Architecture or Interior Design Degree with a minimum of two years of experience in custom residential design.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret design drawings, construction documentation and project plans.
• Ability to design and visualize new space plans within provided software programs
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Able to take abstract information and apply Steelcase insights/learnings in a way that yields creative/thoughtful applications.
• Strong design and visualization skills.
• Collaborative and proactive communication and people management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, 20/20 (or similar), AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
• Able to prioritize tasks, work independently and coordinate multiple schedules.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to self-assess your role's impact on the company.
• Thorough knowledge of local material resources and current pricing.
• In-depth knowledge of design trends and code requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with development team and clients to gather project information and develop creative and functional design solutions that meet the client’s requirements, aesthetic and budget.
• Create computer-generated design documents including design intent drawings, space plans, furniture typical, furniture plans, installation documents and rendered images to communicate and document design solutions, ensuring efficient and accurate installation results.
• Using an in-depth knowledge of design trends, product, applications and code requirements act as a trusted design advisor to development team and clients.
• Supervise critical work progress.
• Work closely with, trades, materials suppliers, and contractors
• Request + review pricing, bids, shop drawings, vendor proposals, studio designer items and time billing entries, etc.
• Create long standing relationships with vendors, exuding professionalism and appreciation.
• Perform products and materials research.
• Research and follow industry changes, evolution, best practices and latest design trends.
• While this job description accurately represents the current primary duties of the role, functions may be adapted as necessary to meet business need.
• Participating in timeline scheduling, + adhering to and upholding project timelines.
Initially this is position will be part- or full-time, can be partially remote.
