About this role

Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, PA, a leader among the nation's independent associate degree colleges, is currently seeking a Director for the Interior Design Program. The position as the Director of Interior Design will provide leadership to grow the exceptional high-impact learning experiences, fulfilling the Program's mission of preparing students with the technical and professional skills to... become proficient in the art of conceiving, planning, and creating interior spaces. The Director will work closely with the Interior Design faculty to develop a comprehensive strategic vision for the current curriculum as well as deepen the department's community engagement, advance initiatives to engage and recruit students, and work with the Interior Design community to establish relationships that lead to professional employment opportunities for our Interior Design graduates. The position is a full-time, 12-month position that reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The person selected for this position will also be expected to teach interior design courses, manage the courses taught in the program as well as to serve as a strong advocate for the program. The position is designed to build upon a culture of mentorship and community, and includes advising and guiding prospective and enrolled students through their course of study and beyond. This position will require participation in department, and/or program area meetings and committees, and build a supportive advisory board for industry related feedback and guidance. The successful candidate will be conversant in appropriate technologies for the field of interior design. In addition, the successful candidate will possess strong communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain a positive and collegial relationship with departmental colleagues, and college offices, and serve as a role model for students. Required Education and/or Experience: A terminal degree is preferred, either a Ph.D., or an MFA or MS in Interior Design, but those with significant professional experience would be considered for the position in accordance with accreditation policies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join an established and engaged faculty in Art & Design. There will be opportunities for growth as the program and its faculty will be moving into new spaces allowing the program to expand and create new curricula for its students. Preferred Education and/or Experience: • Teaching experience in Higher Ed preferred • NCIDQ License preferred ABOUT HARCUM COLLEGE: Harcum College is an independent, coeducational, fully accredited, residential college.
