SUMMARY
FS Interiors is seeking a motivated and creative individual to join our team as an Interior Design Intern. This internship offers hands-on experience in the field of interior design, providing an excellent opportunity for growth and professional development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Interior Design Internship Responsibilities:
• Assist in creating design concepts and mood boards for various projects
• Support the design team in space planning and layout development
• Assist with material and furniture selection
• Collaborate with the founder on design presentations and client meetings
• Conduct research on design trends, materials, and suppliers; provide pricing, availability, stock, eta.
• Provide project support to the founder
• Accompany and assist the founder during client meetings at job sites and showrooms
• Take detailed notes during meetings, take measurements/photos of projects
• Place orders, purchase materials, pick up and deliver
• Submit receipts for all purchases and orders
• Track and communicate status of orders; resolve problems
• Maintain spreadsheets with client selections/finish materials
• Schedule for the designer, contractors, clients, vendors
• Respond to client questions and concerns; project updates
• Meet vendors, assist with installations
• Submit detailed hours (billable and non-billable) and mileage log monthly
• Check Notion daily for new tasks; update status of assigned task at the end of each workdays
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Professional Competencies
• Currently enrolled in an accredited interior design program
• Proficiency in Sketchup, Google Sheets, Canva, and Notion
• Knowledge in AutoCAD
• Strong creativity and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional hybrid office environment. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, printers, and filing cabinets are routinely used.
Physical Activity
This role involves various physical activities related to interior design tasks, such as standing or sitting for prolonged periods while assessing spaces, arranging furniture, or conducting site visits. It also includes operating a computer and other office equipment, conversing with team members and clients, as well as moving and accessing objects within the workspace.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a part-time internship position, paid on an hourly basis with school credit. The expected work hours are 15 hours per week unless another arrangement has been discussed. The Intern reports to the founder.
Travel
Local travel within the San Francisco Bay Area may be required for this position.
