Overview For Friends Design is looking for interns + retail showroom help!
We are a high-end residential interior design firm with a full retail showroom and gift boutique in Lexington, KY. Our projects range from custom residential homes and renovations to select office spaces, while our showroom offers hands-on experience with luxury furnishings, fabrics, lighting, decor, and bridal registry.
We are currently looking for motivated individuals interested in gaining real-world experience in the design industry. This is a paid position with opportunity for growth within the business. Design experience is appreciated, but not required.
Daily responsibilities may include
Assisting with showroom operations and customer interaction
Organizing and managing the material library
Ordering samples and communicating with vendors + reps
Running errands and vendor pickups/drop-offs (company vehicle provided or gas reimbursement available)
Assisting with day-to-day design tasks and project support
Gaining knowledge of high-end brands, custom furniture, and boutique decor
Ideal candidates are
Available 1–3 days per week
Available on Saturdays (required) Organized, dependable, and eager to learn
Interested in interior design, retail, or the creative industry
This position is ideal for current students, summer interns, recent graduates, or anyone looking to gain experience in the interior design field.
Other Responsibilities
Assist in creating detailed design concepts, mood boards, and presentation materials using Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, and other visualization tools
Support senior designers with drafting plans and elevations in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhinoceros 3D, and 3ds Max to develop accurate spatial layouts
Contribute to project management tasks such as scheduling, budgeting support, and tracking project milestones to ensure timely delivery
Participate in client meetings and site visits to observe renovation and remodeling processes firsthand
Gain exposure to construction documentation
