Interior Design Documentation + Visualization Project Manager Atypical Design Studio – Salt Lake City, UT Full-Time, Hourly | Hybrid (3 Days In-Office, 2 Days Remote) About Atypical Design Studio Atypical Design Studio is a full-service interior design practice specializing in high-end residential and boutique hospitality projects. Our work is thoughtful, detail-driven, and collaborative — rooted in strong creative direction and precise execution. We are seeking a highly organized and technically skilled Documentation + Visualization Project Manager to support our team in translating design concepts into cohesive drawing sets, detailed documentation, project coordination, and compelling visual presentations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical and organizational sides of the design process — someone who can help move projects forward while maintaining clarity, consistency, and attention to detail across all phases of execution. Position Overview The Documentation + Visualization Project Manager plays a key role in supporting both the creative and technical execution of projects. This position bridges design direction, production documentation, visualization, and day-to-day project coordination. You’ll work closely with the design team to help transform design intent into accurate, buildable, and visually compelling deliverables while helping maintain project organization, communication, and workflow management throughout the process. You may receive: 2D floor plans sketches and redlines inspiration imagery finish selections and specifications verbal or conceptual design direction …and help develop those into: construction drawing sets interior elevations reflected ceiling plans millwork details 3D models and renderings presentation materials coordinated project documentation We are looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, visually aware, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple moving parts while maintaining consistency across all aspects of a project. Objective Support the successful execution of interior design projects by maintaining cohesion between concept, documentation, visualization, and project coordination. Help ensure projects remain organized, technically accurate, visually aligned, and effectively communicated across the design team, vendors, trades, and project stakeholders. Atypical Responsibilities Track hours using time tracking software Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings Help maintain organization across studio systems and project files Support internal workflow management and project coordination Maintain clear communication regarding timelines, revisions, and deliverables Collaborate closely with the design team to maintain project cohesion Support vendor and consultant communication as needed Project ResponsibilitiesDocumentation + Technical Production Produce interior construction documentation and drawing sets Draft elevations, plans, detailing, and millwork drawings Develop reflected ceiling plans and finish documentation Assist with space planning and technical coordination Maintain organization and consistency across drawing packages Incorporate redlines and revisions accurately and efficiently Coordinate specifications, dimensions, and drawing updates Support drawing exports, layouts, and presentation formatting Apply working knowledge of interior construction standards and detailing Visualization + Design Support Build 3D models from design direction and project information Produce renderings and visual presentation materials Translate inspiration imagery and sketches into visual concepts Assist in preparing client-facing presentations and materials Support finish and material coordination as needed Contribute thoughtful and organized creative solutions throughout all phases Project Management + Coordination Attend project and client meetings as needed Take organized notes and track project follow-through Maintain project updates and internal communication systems Coordinate with vendors, consultants, and trades regarding timelines and deliverables Help manage revisions, drawing updates, and documentation tracking Support scheduling coordination and overall project organization Assist in maintaining momentum and accountability across project phases Qualifications Degree or formal education in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or related field 3+ years of relevant experience in an interior design or architecture studio environment Strong understanding of interior construction documentation standards Experience coordinating multiple phases of interior design projects Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills Strong attention to detail and visual consistency Ability to manage multiple deadlines and revisions simultaneously Ability to work both collaboratively and independently within established workflows Preferred Software Experience ARCHICAD (preferred) SketchUp AutoCAD Revit Adobe Creative Suite Twinmotion, Enscape, Lumion, V-Ray, or similar rendering software Familiarity with project management and procurement systems Preferred Qualifications Experience in high-end residential and boutique hospitality projects Strong millwork and detailing experience Familiarity with interior architecture workflows and consultant coordination Ability to interpret conceptual direction with minimal oversight Strong rendering composition and material realism Experience managing project communication and technical coordination Ability to balance creative thinking with organized execution Why Join Atypical This is an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative, design-focused studio that values both creativity and precision.
