Interior Design Assistant

Interior Designer (established in 2004) in the North San Diego area is looking for a design assistant to join our small team. We work with clientele in and around the San Diego area. This is a in-person position (between 30-35 hours per week) Monday through Friday located in Carlsbad, CA. This position will have multiple on-site construction visits per week (with owner/Principal) and requires reliable personal transportation. Responsibilities: - Tasks assigned by Principal Designer - Creating client design boards - Detailed Note-taking - Professional interaction with clientele - Help to coordinate vendors, contractors and subcontractors - Place orders and coordination of orders and deliveries - Participation in office administrative tasks (organization of samples, fabric, planning etc) - Research/sourcing materials, lighting and furniture Requirements: - Positive attitude and willingness to learn - Social media experience preferred (growing and maintaining a brand) - In-person position (not remote) - MUST be comfortable going into client's homes, interacting with clients and contractors at construction sites - Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field is preferred - Must be able to work around Principal Designer's schedule - Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel (detailed budgeting) - Proficiency in design software including AutoCAD and Sketchup - Reliable transportation for responsibilities above - Be able to work within a fast-paced environment and sometimes stressful situations with clientele/vendors - Ability to do required tasks (i.e. lifting up to 20 lbs, walking through unfinished construction projects, climbing ladders etc) - Must be organized and have attention to detail - Previous experience in contract work or remodeling is a plus - Savvy internet skills (research and buying) - Polished appearance and professional demeanor $25-30/hr commensurate with experience - we do not offer medical benefits Please send resume and cover letter for why you would best fit with our team Job Type: Full-time Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour Benefits: Paid time off Education: Bachelor's (Required) Experience: Interior design: 2 years (Preferred) Ability to Commute: Carlsbad, CA 92011 (Required) Work Location: In person
