In-Home Design Consultant

Wichita Furniture is a leading furniture dealer serving the Wichita area, known for our extensive in-stock inventory and personalized customer service. We’re looking for a talented, personable Design Consultant to help our customers turn their houses into homes. About the Role As our In-Home Design Consultant, you’ll visit customers’ homes to assess their space, understand their style and needs, and recommend furniture and design solutions from our showroom. This is a client-facing sales role for someone who loves design, connects easily with people, and knows how to turn a great recommendation into a sale. Responsibilities Conduct in-home consultations to measure spaces, assess layout, and understand customer style preferences Recommend furniture, décor, and layout solutions tailored to each customer’s home and budget Build and present design concepts, including furniture selections and room arrangements Guide customers through the purchasing process, from recommendation to close Maintain strong product knowledge across our full showroom inventory Follow up with customers post-sale to ensure satisfaction and encourage referrals Collaborate with our sales and delivery teams to ensure a smooth customer experience What We’re Looking For Experience in interior design, home staging, or furniture sales (2+ years preferred) Strong eye for space planning, color, and style Excellent interpersonal and communication skills — comfortable working directly in customers’ homes Self-motivated with a results-driven mindset Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation Proficiency with design software or willingness to learn (e.g., room-planning tools) is a plus Interior design certification (NCIDQ or similar) a plus, but not required Compensation & Benefits Base salary + commission on sales generated Employee discount on furniture Health insurance, PTO, retirement plan, etc. Benefits: 401(k) Dental insurance Employee discount Flexible spending account Health insurance Life insurance Paid time off Referral program Vision insurance Work Location: In person
