We are seeking a motivated Design Consultant who enjoys helping customers create beautiful living spaces while delivering an outstanding purchasing experience. Position Summary The Design Consultant is responsible for assisting customers throughout the entire sales process, from initial greeting through post-sale follow-up. This role combines retail sales, customer service, and design consultation to help customers find furnishings that meet their needs, preferences, and budget. Successful candidates are relationship-oriented, self-motivated, professional, and committed to providing an exceptional customer experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Welcome and assist customers in the showroom, by telephone, and through digital communication channels. Build rapport with customers and identify their furnishing, design, and lifestyle needs. Provide design guidance and product recommendations for individual rooms and whole-home projects. Prepare accurate sales quotations and customer orders. Utilize digital sales tools, price lists, and company systems to support the sales process. Follow up with customers before and after the sale to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business. Develop long-term customer relationships that generate referrals and repeat purchases. Assist interior designers, trade professionals, and commercial clients as needed. Maintain a professional showroom environment, including merchandise presentation and organization. Collaborate effectively with fellow sales associates, customer service personnel, warehouse staff, and management. Perform additional duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills. Basic computer proficiency, including email, internet applications, and mobile technology. Ability to work a retail schedule, including Saturdays. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Preferred Bachelor's degree. Previous experience in retail sales, interior design, hospitality, customer service, or a related field. Interior design education, training, or professional certifications such as ASID. Expected first-year earnings typically range from approximately $39,000 to $60,000+. Top-performing Design Consultants who successfully develop a strong customer base may earn substantially more over time. Six-figure earnings are achievable for exceptional performers, though most consultants reach their highest earning potential after gaining experience and building long-term customer relationships within our market. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk throughout the showroom for extended periods. Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, tablets, telephones, and sales tools. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and vendors. Ability to occasionally lift, move, or carry product samples and materials weighing up to 15 pounds. Work Environment This position is performed in a retail showroom environment. Employees regularly interact with customers, coworkers, designers, and vendors in a professional, fast-paced setting.
