About this role

We’re partnering with a leading home furnishings and lifestyle retailer seeking an experienced Furniture Designer to develop original collections from initial concept through production. This is a hands-on design opportunity for someone with a strong point of view, elevated taste level, and deep technical knowledge of furniture construction, materials, and manufacturing. Candidates may be considered at the Senior Designer, Manager, or Director level based on experience. Key Highlights Pay: $50-70/hr - commensurate with candidate experience & levelLocation: Downtown San FranciscoSchedule: Hybrid - In Office 4-5 days/weekType: Contract - potential to extend or convert to full time What You’ll Do Conceptualize and develop original furniture collections that align with the brand’s aesthetic, customer, and business goalsEstablish a clear design point of view and introduce fresh aesthetics, functionality, and innovation each seasonResearch furniture, interiors, lifestyle, and market trends to identify new product opportunitiesTranslate ideas into mood boards, sketches, CAD drawings, 3D models, renderings, and complete product specificationsLead designs from initial ideation through sample development, revisions, approval, and productionApply knowledge of furniture engineering, construction, materials, finishes, pricing, and manufacturing throughout the design processEvaluate designs for feasibility, durability, safety, cost efficiency, and market viabilityReview technical drawings and product samples with close attention to construction and design detailsPartner with Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, Engineering, and vendor teams to execute the design visionDevelop and present seasonal concepts, design direction, and product samples to senior leadershipManage multiple projects against the product development calendar, ensuring deadlines and key milestones are met Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of professional furniture design experienceDegree in Furniture Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or equivalent professional experienceStrong portfolio demonstrating original furniture concepts and products brought through developmentAspirational taste level with a sophisticated eye for interiors, proportion, materials, and finishTechnical expertise in bedroom furniture, upholstery construction, and wood finishesExperience designing with construction, manufacturing, and target pricing in mindStrong understanding of furniture engineering, materials, and production methodsAbility to review and provide detailed feedback on technical drawings and samplesProficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD, and 3D rendering tools such as Rhino, SolidWorks, KeyShot, or AutoCADStrong presentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills Please submit your resume for consideration.
