About this role
Our well-renowned, high-end interior design firm is looking to add an experienced Draftsman / Design Assistant to join our team and provide CAD and digital visualization boards for our residential interior design projects, as well as showroom assistance and design library management.
Are you interested in learning the business of design from a nationally-recognized interior designer?
Are you proficient in CAD software and want to work in Residential Design?
Are you highly-organized, have strong math skills, and are detailed-oriented?
If your answers are yes to the above, then our Draftsman / Design Assistant position may be perfect for you.
Draftsman responsibilities will include:
• Drafting floor plans and elevations in AutoCAD
• Measuring at project sites for window treatments, floor plans, and furniture layouts
• Compiling and preparing digital visual presentation boards
• Utilizing AI rendering tools
Showroom & Design Assistant responsibilities will include:
• Assisting Interior Designers as needed in an assistant capacity
• Receiving deliveries at showroom and checking goods for damage and/or that they are the
correct items ordered
• Maintaining general construction documents and schedules
• Picking up and delivering items between showroom, warehouse, and job sites
• Driving company’s small cargo van as needed for the above tasks
• Greeting walk-in clients to showroom and answering phones
• Scheduling appointments for designers
• Sharing opening and closing duties for the showroom each day
• Maintaining all sample libraries and showroom supplies
• Administrative, office-related tasks, and errands as needed
Requirements:
• Two- or four-year degree in design or related field
• At least 1-2 years of CAD work experience in the residential design industry
• Expert in AutoCAD or similar software
• Experience taking measurements and strong math skills
• Great attitude, eager and interested in learning, and drama-free
• Ability to follow directions and take initiative when required
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Professional and pleasant in manner, demeanor, and appearance
• A valid driver’s license, car available for business use when needed, willingness to drive company
van, and ability to lift a reasonable amount of weight (e.g. packages, supplies, cardboard, etc.)
• Strong computer skills, including Google Docs, email, calendars, etc.
Schedule/Compensation:
• Monday-Friday / 10:00a to 4:00p
• 30 hours per week / Opportunity for additional hours based on Drafting workload requirements
• Hourly Pay / $17-$20 (dependent on experience)
• Independent Contractor Status
• Mileage Reimbursements
