We are excited to announce that we are seeking an experienced Director of Interior Design to lead and support our Interior Design team. This role is ideal for someone who can bring both creative vision and operational follow-through, someone who can guide design, mentor staff, support clients, and help elevate the Interior Design discipline across the firm. Role DescriptionThe Director of Interior Design provides firmwide leadership and oversight across all interior design project types and phases. This position is responsible for supporting design quality, project delivery, production standards, QA/QC, resource planning, and team development. The Director will collaborate closely with firm leadership, including Principals, Directors of Architecture and Operations, Studio Leads, and project teams, to ensure interior design work aligns with G4 standards, project goals, schedules, budgets, and client expectations. This role requires a strong design leader who can move confidently between concept development, technical coordination, client strategy, staffing needs, and team mentorship. Various commercial experience is a plus as G4 continues to expand the markets and disciplines we serve. Responsibilities Include:Lead, mentor, and support the Interior Design team across all project phasesProvide firmwide oversight of interior design standards, design quality, and project deliveryOversee the design process for a variety of project types, including multifamily, hospitality, corporate, adaptive reuse, commercial, residential, and other emerging marketsCollaborate with Architecture, Operations, Studio Leads, and project teams to support successful project outcomesAssist teams in defining project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing needs, and deliverablesSupport workload planning, resource allocation, and studio coordinationReview and support construction documents, finish selections, specifications, presentations, and project deliverablesProvide QA/QC support to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with firm standardsParticipate in client meetings, presentations, interviews, and business development effortsSupport proposal and contract development, as neededIdentify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and stronger project workflowsParticipate in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance feedback for Interior Design staffEngage in professional organizations, continuing education, conferences, and industry events that promote the firm and support professional growthWe’d Love to Hear from You If You HaveA bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related fieldProfessional licensure or certification in Interior Design or Architecture, preferredStrong experience leading interior design projects from concept through completionStrong understanding of architecture and the relationship between interior environments, building systems, construction documents, and project deliveryExperience managing design teams, project schedules, budgets, and client expectationsAbility to review and guide construction documents, specifications, finish packages, and project deliverablesStrong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skillsA collaborative approach to mentoring, coaching, accountability, and team developmentProficiency in design and documentation tools used in professional practiceThe Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a confident and collaborative design leader who understands both the creative and operational sides of interior design. This person should be comfortable leading a team, supporting clients, coordinating with architects and consultants, reviewing technical documents, and helping expand the firm’s presence in new and existing markets.
