Overview We are seeking Designers (entry-level through mid-level) to support infrastructure and utility design projects in the Chesapeake and Hampton, VA areas. This role focuses on preparing detailed drawings, supporting calculations, and ensuring designs meet applicable standards and requirements. Candidates with AutoCAD experience — or those looking to develop it — are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Prepare manual and electronic design drawings, layouts, and construction documentationUtilize AutoCAD, GIS, and related tools to develop and update project designsSupport infrastructure and distribution design efforts (both overhead and underground)Perform design-related calculations, including geometry and trigonometryReview project scope and documentation to ensure alignment with standards and requirementsEvaluate design work for accuracy, completeness, and qualitySupport QA/QC processes and maintain design standardsApply customer-specific standards and operating requirementsPlan and complete design assignments independentlyConduct field assessments as needed (based on experience level)Support additional design tasks and project needsAll other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications Exposure to or experience with AutoCAD or GIS (academic or professional)Strong math skills, including geometry and trigonometryExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to learn new systems, standards, and design processesAbility to manage tasks independently and meet deadlinesPreferred Qualifications 2+ years of design experience (for mid-level candidates)Experience supporting utility, telecom, or infrastructure projectsFamiliarity with overhead and underground design conceptsKnowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulationsExperience with tools such as Maximo, BOUD, G Tech, or WorkProField experienceExposure to electrical distribution design (nice to have, not required)Work Environment / Travel / Schedule Hybrid or office-based work model in Chesapeake and Hampton, VAStandard business hoursField work may be required depending on project needsBenefits Medical, Dental, and Vision CoverageSupplemental Insurance through Aflac401(k) plan EEO / Disclaimer The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the incumbent(s) of this job.
