Design Director

High-end residential design firm located in New York is seeking a full-time creative, experienced Design Studio Director with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects from concept through installation. A strong understanding of modern, antique, and contemporary furnishings, custom fabrication, project and construction management, excellent presentation skills and... the ability to prioritize is essential. We are a collaborative firm, and we are looking for a star candidate to lead our projects. RESPONSIBILITIES • Managing a team of 2 Senior Designers, 2 Junior Designers, Project Manager, Design Assistant, and Interns. • Oversee client presentation preparation. • Conduct client meetings with the Principal and/or Senior Designer. • Work closely with the Principal to understand the creative vision and direction for each project • Provide direction to the staff from concept, though sourcing and purchasing, to installation and styling. • Drive the execution of the Principal's vision in all areas of Interior design • Review and comment on designers’ work to ensure design vision is achieved including FF&E selection, Art, and Accessories. • Actively manage the design team including daily prioritization and delegation, weekly staff meetings, client meetings and presentations. • Manage project timelines, budgets, schedules, and calendars in conjunction with the Business Manager. Create and drive a development time-in-action calendar with a clear understanding of factory lead times to achieve key development milestones. • Interview and review intermediate/junior staff and new hires alongside the Principal and Business Manager. • Contribution to the strategic thinking of the office including future growth and structure
