Position Summary As a Building Performance Specialist, you will collaborate closely with architects and engineers throughout the design process to identify and implement impactful building performance strategies. Utilizing energy modeling and performance analysis, you will quantify the feasibility of these strategies and advocate effectively for their integration within the design team. Your role will also involve serving as an integrated design resource, providing actionable insights and data to set and achieve building performance goals. You will advocate for high-performing buildings and deliver constructive design feedback based on sustainable design best practices. Key Responsibilities Conduct energy modeling and analysis, daylighting assessments, and prepare reports related to energy life cycle cost analysis and utility incentives, ensuring compliance with relevant state regulations and codes.Evaluate and optimize energy conservation strategies focusing on building form, envelope, and electrical and mechanical systems.Implement advanced problem-solving skills to troubleshoot technical design challenges.Research and develop high-performance building strategies such as daylight optimization and thermal comfort analysis.Support project teams by offering insights and data to meet building performance objectives.Create sustainability and performance design narratives at all design stages for various projects.Lead Integrated Design charrettes and provide sustainable design services across different design phases.Promote knowledge of building performance and sustainable design within the firm.Utilize advanced energy modeling techniques and perform Energy and Life Cycle Analysis of various energy conservation measures.Conduct Measurement and Verification services for post-occupancy evaluation.Assist project teams in achieving Architecture 2030 targets and participate in related reporting.Embark on professional development by advocating and attending events (IBPSA, ASHRAE, AIA) focusing on sustainability and performance design.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in architectural engineering, engineering, interior design, or equivalent field.6+ years of proven experience in energy modeling and building performance analysis.A minimum of 1 year of experience using Integrated Environmental Solutions Virtual Environment for energy modeling.Proficient in energy modeling and daylight analysis software.Proficient in REVIT.Inform solid understanding of sustainable building design principles.Able to effectively communicate building performance data and research results both verbally and in comprehensive reports.Familiar with key ASHRAE standards including ASHRAE 209, ASHRAE 90.1, ASHRAE 62.1, and ASHRAE 55.Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in architectural engineering, engineering, interior design, or equivalent.Knowledge of parametric design tools such as Ladybug and Honeybee.ASHRAE BEMP and HBDP Certifications.LEED Accredited Professional status.Certification from the International WELL Building Institute (WELL certification).Healthy Buildings RESET Standard certification.At DLR Group, we offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with wellness programs, flexible spending options, paid holidays, and time off. Compensation is determined based on location, experience, and skill level, with a suggested pay range of $93,170 - $144,430 USD.
