Building Engineer

Job Overview We are seeking a proactive and skilled Building Engineer to oversee the maintenance, repair, and operational integrity of our facilities. This energetic role involves ensuring all building systems function efficiently, safely, and reliably to support a productive environment. Responsibilities Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical equipment, and other building systems to ensure optimal operation. Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues using schematics, electrical equipment repair techniques, and tools such as ohmmeters. Conduct welding, carpentry, painting, and general facilities maintenance to uphold building aesthetics and safety standards. Maintain plumbing systems through repairs, system maintenance, and troubleshooting to prevent leaks or failures. Operate hand tools and power tools safely while performing repairs or installations in building interior areas. Supervise maintenance staff or contractors when needed; provide leadership in completing tasks efficiently and safely. Document all maintenance activities accurately; interpret schematics and technical manuals for complex repairs. Respond promptly to facility issues reported by tenants or staff; deliver excellent customer service by resolving concerns swiftly. Support MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) activities by managing inventory levels of parts and supplies necessary for ongoing operations. Assist with building interior maintenance projects including painting, carpentry repairs, and HVAC system adjustments to enhance space functionality. Qualifications Proven experience in facilities maintenance or building operations with a focus on mechanical systems. Strong electrical experience including electrical work repair, troubleshooting with schematics, and use of testing tools like ohmmeters. Knowledge of HVAC system repair, plumbing system maintenance, carpentry skills, welding techniques, and general mechanical knowledge. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and electrical equipment repair is highly desirable. Ability to read technical schematics and mechanical drawings accurately. Experience supervising or leading maintenance teams is preferred; leadership skills are essential for effective team coordination. Excellent communication skills in English; ability to document work clearly and interact professionally with tenants or clients. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, plumbing fixtures, HVAC components, and electrical equipment repair techniques. Knowledge of safety protocols related to electrical work, welding, plumbing repairs, HVAC systems, and general facilities maintenance practices.
