About this role
We’re partnering with a leading home furnishings and lifestyle retailer seeking both an Assistant Designer and an Associate Designer to support seasonal product development from initial concept through production. These opportunities are ideal for highly organized, trend-aware designers who enjoy balancing hands-on creative work with cross-functional coordination.
Candidates will be considered at the level that best aligns with their experience.
Key Highlights
Pay: $30-40/hr - commensurate with candidate experienceLocation: Downtown San FranciscoSchedule: Hybrid - In Office 4-5 days/weekType: Contract - potential to extend or convert to full time
What You’ll Do
Support the design and development of seasonal product assortments based on brand direction, market trends, and business needsCreate product specifications, concept boards, and presentation materialsHelp manage concepts through product development, sampling, revisions, and final approvalSchedule weekly product development meetings, prepare agendas, and track follow-up itemsAssist with seasonal product presentations for internal teams and senior leadershipMaintain development updates and product status information within PLM systemsTrack key milestones, deadlines, and seasonal calendar datesCommunicate design needs and product details to merchants, sourcing partners, vendors, engineers, and color teamsReview business results and help implement product or assortment changesResearch fashion, interiors, lifestyle, and competitive market trends to identify new product opportunitiesIdentify product development challenges and help drive solutionsSupport workflow improvements across the broader design and development team
Qualifications
Experience supporting product design, product development, or seasonal assortment developmentBachelor’s degree in Hardlines/Softlines Product Design, Industrial Design, Textile Design, Fashion Design, or a related field preferredStrong ability to create product specifications, concept boards, and design presentationsUnderstanding of the product development process from concept through productionStrong awareness of home, interiors, lifestyle, color, and consumer trendsExcellent organization, communication, and calendar-management skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environmentComfortable collaborating across Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, Technical Design, and vendor teamsExperience working within a Product Lifecycle Management system is preferredPortfolio demonstrating relevant product design and development work
