Store Planner / Designer - Supermarket & Retail Design Position OverviewA growing engineering and design-build firm specializing in the supermarket and retail food industry is seeking an experienced Store Planner / Designer to join its multi-disciplinary team. This role focuses on developing innovative retail store layouts, optimizing customer flow, coordinating MEP systems, and supporting high-impact supermarket and retail projects from concept through implementation.The ideal candidate will have strong experience in retail floor planning, supermarket design, AutoCAD drafting, and coordination with architectural and engineering teams.Key Responsibilities Develop creative and functional retail store layouts aligned with client branding and merchandising strategiesCreate detailed floor plans and retail space designs that maximize operational efficiency and customer experienceCoordinate store layouts with HVAC-R, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systemsConduct field/site visits to document existing conditions, fixtures, and MEP infrastructurePrepare and maintain accurate AutoCAD drawings and CAD standardsDevelop dynamic blocks and perform CAD data extraction tasks Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, merchandisers, and operations teamsSelect appropriate store equipment and fixtures to support merchandising strategiesAssist with lighting concepts and aesthetic design improvementsManage project schedules, priorities, and design deliverables in a fast-paced environmentCoordinate with vendors and contractors to ensure proper execution of design intentStay current with supermarket and retail design trends, technologies, and best practicesRequired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Commercial Planning, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferredProven experience in retail store planning and designSupermarket or grocery retail design experience strongly preferredStrong proficiency in AutoCAD requiredExperience with Revit, Sketch Up, or other 3D modeling tools is a plusKnowledge of retail layout optimization, merchandising principles, and customer flow managementUnderstanding of MEP coordination and retail infrastructure systemsStrong organizational and project management skillsExcellent visual design sense and attention to detailAbility to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyPortfolio showcasing retail or supermarket design projects preferredCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experienceMedical, dental, vision, and life insurance401(k) with employer matchingPaid time off and holidaysLong-term growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding engineering and retail design environmentWork EnvironmentFull-time, onsite positionCollaborative, fast-paced engineering and design team environmentOpportunity to work on regional and national retail/supermarket projects#J-18808-Ljbffr
