To be eligible for this position, you must meet either A or B below for the series to which you are applying. Note: An applicant who meets the basic requirements as specified in A or B above, except as noted under B.1., may qualify for positions in any branch of engineering unless selective factors indicate otherwise.-AND- (2) Specialized Experience In order to qualify for this position, you must meet either A, B, or C for the grade to which you are applying. GS-05 Minimum Qualifications:To qualify for the GS-05, all applicants who meet the basic education requirements described in the individual occupational requirements are fully qualified for the GS-5 grade level. Education: You may substitute education (education that is directly related) for experience at the GS-07 level if you have achieved: one year of progressively higher-level graduate level education; Superior Academic Achievement at the baccalaureate level in an engineering program (For more info: http://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualificationpolicies/#url=e4f); or successful completion of a 5-year program of study of at least 160 semester hours leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering.

Qualifications:Basis of Rating: All applicants for this position will be rated based upon the documentation submitted. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and licensure contained in the approved job category for P.L. Basic Education & Licensure Requirement for Transitional Teacher position: Possess a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) from an accredited education institution.Provide proof of enrollment in a local State's alternative teaching licensure/certificate program within 90 days of the start date of the position.Enrollment should be for the appropriate endorsement/subject field as identified in the Job Opportunity Announcement (e.g. elementary, mathematics, special education, chemistry, etc.) NOTE: Be sure to check that official transcripts are not locked or encrypted when uploaded AND that ALL pages (including transcript key) are viewable. Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in a field related to the work of the position to be filled, of which at least 9 semester hours must have been in education courses. This experience must have been of such character and diversity to demonstrate that the applicant possesses an understanding of the field comparable to that normally acquired through successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. All academic degrees and coursework must be completed at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE).

Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above) ORSuccessful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Architecture 0808 Degree: architecture; or related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) 6 semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
